Evolution of the taximeter

The first taximeter was invented in 1891 by Wilhelm Bruhn. It was a simple mechanical device that calculated fare based on distance traveled.

In 1897, the first electrically powered taximeter was invented. This new design was much more accurate than the mechanical taximeters, and could be used in both horse-drawn and motorized vehicles.

In
1903, the first electronic taximeter was invented. This new design used a radio signal to communicate with a central dispatch system, which calculated the fare based on the vehicle's location.

In the 1950s, electronic taximeters became standard in taxis around the world. These new taximeters were more accurate and efficient than the older models, and could be used in a variety of vehicles, including cars, buses, and trains.

Today, taximeters are small, electronic devices that are mounted in taxis and other vehicles. They use GPS technology to calculate fares, and can be used in a variety of different currencies.
